Elon Musk has confirmed that X (formerly known as Twitter) will introduce a new messaging feature, allowing users to utilize the platform solely for direct messaging (DMs) without needing to post publicly.

This new functionality will completely separate DMs from public posts, providing users with a more focused private communication experience.

"Direct messages will be decoupled from public posts, so if all you want to do is use this platform for messaging, without making public posts, you can do that," Musk explained, highlighting the flexibility that this tool will offer.

With this update, X aims to offer a more private and competitive alternative in the messaging app landscape, catering to users who prefer personal interactions without public engagement, while also competing with WhatsApp, owned by Meta. There is no set release date for this feature yet.
